The firm's own mailboxes and domains (SMTP / IMAP), with spam filtering and DKIM / SPF / DMARC controls. No cloud mailbox provider required.

Matter-linked communications

Link emails to matters and clients, auto-file at the folder level, search within a matter, and surface communications on the matter timeline.

Legal privilege marking

Mark messages and threads as attorney-client or work-product, with legal-hold and retention tracking.

AI email features

Focused / other inbox classification, thread summarization focused on deadlines, action items, and agreements, task extraction from threads, smart-reply drafts (draft only, never auto-sent), and AI matter / client / folder suggestions.

Discovery-ready

Full-text and semantic search, thread reconstruction, and one-click export of attachments into the DMS as documents.

Admin

Custom-domain onboarding with DNS verification, mailbox and quota management, distribution groups, address routing, and PST / archive migration with canary review.

In your control

Email bodies and attachments are stored in firm-controlled storage with multi-tenant isolation and a full admin audit log. Note: connecting external personal accounts (Gmail / Outlook / IMAP) is not supported — migration means importing PST / archives into EdgeMail.
