Accounting · Your AI accounting department
A solo firm can have an accounting department now.
Small firms have always had two choices: pay a bookkeeper, or keep the books yourself at night. EdgeLex gives you a third. Five Agents do the daily, weekly and monthly accounting work inside the rules and limits you set, and bring you only the decisions.
Every Agent stops at the same line: it can prepare a payment, a transfer or a close. Only a person can release, move or certify it.
$50,670
a year is the median pay of a bookkeeping clerk in the U.S., before payroll taxes and benefits.

an Agent can release on its own. Money moves only when you say so.
The same goes for trust, bank details and the close
The work, job by job
Everything a bookkeeper does, and what’s left for you.
Time and money
Put in your own numbers.
For a solo lawyer the books cost twice: the bookkeeper you pay, and the evenings you spend on it that you can’t bill. With Agents doing the work, your part is a short review each morning and a sign-off at month end.
Your books cost you today

With Agents doing the work

Back in your pocket

and about 76 hours a year back for client work
An estimate from your own numbers, not a measured result. It leaves out your CPA’s tax work, which you still need, and the EdgeLex Accounting subscription, which will be priced at release.
A short review, not your evenings
Your morning review is the whole job.
What each Agent did overnight, what it left for you and why, in one list. Accept it, undo anything with one click, and approve the few things only you can. That is the bookkeeping.

How you stay in charge
Autonomy you can see, limit and undo.
Rules you set
Each rule names what Lex may do, on which accounts and vendors, at what confidence, and up to what dollar amount per item and per day. Everything is off until you turn it on, starting from a recommended set.
Review and undo
Every morning you see what each Agent did, under which rule, with the evidence. Undo posts a clean reversal. Posted history is never deleted.
It stops itself
A rule pauses when its corrections climb. All autonomy pauses while a month is closing, while a trust exception is open, or when the AI provider is degraded. The work then comes to you as proposals.
Evidence on every action
Each action keeps its rule, its sources and its confidence. Confidence is measured against your own past corrections, never taken from the model's say-so.
Your permissions, no more
An Agent works with the permissions of the person who created it. It cannot see a Matter or an account that person can't.
Money stays yours
No Agent can release a payment, move money, disburse from trust, change bank details, or close a month. It prepares; you decide.
Questions lawyers ask
Do I still need an accountant?
For your tax returns and any audit or review, yes. EdgeLex keeps the books and doesn't file taxes. Your accountant can be invited with read access to the ledger, the evidence and the audit trail, and gets a clean package at year end.
What if an Agent gets something wrong?
You undo it from the morning list in one click, which posts a reversal. The correction teaches the rule, and a rule that is corrected too often pauses itself until it recovers. Anything above your dollar limits never happens without you.
What does it do with trust money?
It watches it and never moves it. Trust is kept apart from operating cash on every screen, every client ledger is checked daily, and anything wrong comes to you with a drafted fix.
What happens if the AI is unavailable?
Your books keep working. The ordinary screens, forms and reports don't depend on AI, and the Agents pick up where they left off without repeating anything they already did.
