It is not a practice-management suite; matters, billing and calendaring live in another product and connect to it. EdgeLex's document system is one part of a single platform, so the same matter record holds the documents, the email, the deadlines, the bills and the AI's evidence, and the whole platform can run in the firm's own infrastructure.
For a firm that went looking for a DMS because it wanted control over privileged documents, self-hosting is usually the reason; EdgeLex offers it, LexWorkplace does not.
